Job description

The Consultant and Professor, Department Chair constitute the Department Management together with the Clinical Manager, MD and the Clinical Manager, Biomedical Laboratory Scientist. The Department Management team applying their individual professional competencies share responsibilities and decision-making leading the department.

The Department Management strives to meet the strategic ambitions at AUH offering the highest professionalism, meeting the whole person and creating results through collaboration. Together with the other members of the Department Management, you must promote this ambition through dialogue and collaboration with staff and relevant partners.

The Department Management agrees on the distribution of tasks according to competencies and ensures mutual coordination and knowledge sharing. The Department Management has a joint managerial responsibility concerning daily running, financing, research, development and education. You as well as the other members of the Department Management are responsible to the Hospital Management at AUH. Together we draft an individual description of your job function. The employment will be as a consultant with specialist responsibility and you will be responsible to the Hospital Management at AUH. 

Qualifications 

Applicants must be medical doctors with a Danish Health Authority certification in clinical physiology and nuclear medicine with a strong professional and personal profile, dedicated to the specialty of clinical physiology and nuclear medicine as well as research and development of the field. The candidate must be able to document scientific education and experience as well as competencies in one or several subspecialties. 

The Consultant in this position will be responsible for the daily running of the section together with other specialists. The daily running includes clinical work, supervision and education of the department doctors as well as doctors in internship positions and specialist training.

As Chair you will be part of the overall department management teams at AUH and thus part of the overall strategic management at the hospital. In addition to managing our own department, department management teams are expected to assume a cross-disciplinary responsibility for the running and development of the hospital based on the overall perspective of the tasks of AUH and the patient's pathway.

The candidate will actively contribute to maintain and develop the strength positions at AUH and ensure that research results are translated into new treatments, the specialist level at AUH is continuously expanded and that AUH forms strategic partnerships and enters into both national and international collaborations. 

As a person, you are respectful, sympathetic and inspire confidence and you are skilled in collaborating with others. Your leadership style is motivating, involving and acknowledging and you dare to be open, honest and self-reflective.

Working language in the Department is Danish. If you are currently not Danish-speaking, you are expected to be dedicated to acquire skills in the Danish language.

Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET Centre performs approx. 30,000 examinations annually and participates in multidisciplinary team conferences with the majority of the other departments at the hospital. The department is a university department in Central Denmark Region and covers all highly specialised functions in the Danish Specialist Plan 2017.

Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET Centre has a considerable responsibility for educating medical doctors in internships and specialist training. Moreover, the department has a large number of students in biomedical laboratory science, electronics technicians and medical secretaries.

Terms of employment, application and job start 

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with agreement between Danish Regions and the Association of Specialist Doctors for employment as an MD, Clinical Leader. Employment is contingent on producing a satisfactory Child Protection Certificate.

Employment as a Consultant requires that the applicant is recommended by Faculty of Health, Aarhus university, for the position as Professor, Department Chair associated with the Consultant position. The application must be made in accordance with the Danish Health Authority description of the seven medical roles and includes specialist authorisation, CV and list of publications. The assessment is made based on the applicant's information concerning own competencies within the seven medical areas of competence with special emphasis on the responsibility inherent in the position.
