BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

The Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University (Denmark) invites applications for a 30-month postdoc position funded by Center for Anytime Anywhere Analytics (CA3) and the project “DECLARE - Declarative Programming for Computational Media”.
The starting date is November 1, 2023 or subject to mutual agreement.

The research project:

The aim of the DECLARE project is to demonstrate a new declarative approach to programming that can make designing interactivity accessible to a fast-growing group of non-professional programmers and scientists in their tool of choice: the computational notebook. The project combines programming language design with methods from the interdisciplinary field of human-computer interaction. The methodology will be a combination of experimental systems development, lab-based user studies, and real-world deployments.

CA3 is a research center for leveraging anywhere & everywhere data to explore the future of hybrid and environmentally sustainable workplaces and teaching spaces where novel mobile, immersive, and ubiquitous technologies and human-centered artificial intelligence (HCAI) methods are harnessed to enable people to interact with large-scale, complex, and heterogeneous data anytime and anywhere.

Job description:

In CA3, the postdoc will be involved in the development of a ubiquitous analytics environment for dynamic mixed-reality and human-to-AI mixed initiative data analytics. In the DECLARE project, the postdoc will oversee the technical development of a declarative programming model suitable for expressing complex interactive behavior by non-professional programmers.
Ideally, the analytics environment in CA3 will build on results from DECLARE. The distribution of work time is 20% on DECLARE and 80% on CA3 related projects.

Requirements:

We seek one or more candidates with a PhD in human-computer interaction and/or data visualization with strong technical skills; preferably with experience in programming systems, real-time collaborative systems, and mixed-reality computing.

Deadline:

Deadline for applications is July 15, 2023, with start date November 1, 2023 or subject to mutual agreement. The position is for 2,5 years.

For further information contact associate professor Clemens Nylandsted Klokmose (clemens@cs.au.dk).

Place of work:

Place of work is the Department of Computer Science, at Åbogade 34, 8200 Aarhus N.
The department employs some 160 members of staff and has about 800 students. The department is strong in both theoretical and experimental research, and it is recognized internationally for its contribution within theory as well as the practice of computing

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Letter of reference

If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf, please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information, and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter of reference before the application deadline. Unfortunately, it is not possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the application deadline will be taken into consideration.
